MYER is looking for a Self-Insurance & Injury Management Manager to administer the Myer Group’s self-insurance licences in NSW, VIC and WA , ensuring compliance and maximisation of the benefits of self-insurance for Myer.  You will manage relationships with Regulators to foster a positive working arrangement and ensure we meet licencing and reporting requirements. You will also lead the business in best practice injury management systems to ensure legislative compliance and mitigate the cost (financial and personal) of workplace injury and illness. You will also contribute to the management of workplace injuries through development and delivery of training, coaching and provision of advice to the Myer Group People Leaders and Risk & Safety team.

  • 7 month fixed-term contract, open to full-time and part-time (4 days)
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimise self-insurance and injury management processes, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and enhanced outcomes for team members and the business.

About the role:

  • To develop and ensure implementation of the self-insurance management program in line with legislative requirements and in alignment with business strategy.
  • Continuously improve the Myer injury management procedures to ensure compliance with self-insurance, legislative and business requirements and ensure the best practice approach to injury management and return to work.
  • Deliver expert knowledge of injury management relative to current legislative frameworks, standards and best practice. Influence, coach and mentor Risk & Safety team members, Senior Regional and People Leaders in the Myer Group’s injury management systems and injury case management.
  • Foster effective relationships with external self-insurance regulators that assist in maximisation of Myer’s self-insurance licences. 
  • Manage the relationship with our early intervention Provider and develop and implement processes to support Myer’s early intervention program and rehabilitation programs and establish processes to monitor the program effectiveness.
  • Provide support for the management of workers compensation arrangements for non-self insured jurisdictions and participate in case management reviews.
  • Provide support for and assist the implementation of the Myer Group safety management system in particular in relation to self-insurance requirements, injury management procedures and training.

 

About you:

  • Qualifications in a health and safety related area, prefarrably with an allied health background.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of self-insurance legislation and workers’ compensation frameworks across relevant jurisdictions (e.g., state/territory-based systems).
  • Strong understanding of injury management, return-to-work, and rehabilitation principles, including best-practice case management approaches.
  • Experience developing and implementing self-insurance management programs and ensuring compliance with audit and regulatory standards.
  • Knowledge of safety management systems (SMS) and their integration with self-insurance and injury management processes.
  • Data analysis and reporting skills to monitor claims trends, costs, and program effectiveness.
  • Experience liaising with regulators, insurers, and external providers to maintain and optimise self-insurance licence performance.
  • Vendor and provider management experience, particularly in early intervention and occupational rehabilitation programs.
  • Proven ability to coach, mentor, and influence leaders and team members in applying injury management and self-insurance requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop procedures, policies, and training materials.
