Myer is looking for a Financial Accountant to join the Corporate Finance Team and support the Financial Manager in maintaining the integrity of the general ledger the recently acquired Apparel Brands. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and contributing to the accuracy and reliability of financial reporting, with the unique opportunity of establishing work papers and internal processes from scratch.

About the role:

  • Accounting for key profit and loss and balance sheet accounts relating to payroll, prepayments, accruals & provisions. This will include the preparation of monthly journals, budgets, forecasts and general ledger reconciliations. 
  • Preparation of related commentary for the monthly Board report with appropriate insight. 
  • Assist with coordinating the interim and year-end external audit process, including liaising with the external auditors, the wider finance team and preparing information requested by the external auditors. 
  • Support the preparation of the interim and year-end Myer financial report. In addition, assist with analytical review of the financial results, which will include assisting with the preparation of associated Board reporting as required. 
  • Drive improvement opportunities related to day-to-day duties and processes as Apparel Brands integrates into Myer. 
  • Assist with providing technical support and financial analysis to the Apparel Brands business. 
  • Preparation of government surveys 
  • Ad hoc duties as they arise 

About you:

  • CPA/CA qualified or equivalent experience, preferred  
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role, essential  
  • Great communicator with the ability to forge strong relationships at all levels across a complex business 
  • Excellent stakeholder management experience with the ability to act autonomously in the role, using your initiative spotting opportunities in the business outside of your day-to-day scope in role 
  • Proficient with MS Excel and previous experience with NetSuite advantageous
