Myer is looking for a Senior Manager – Media Relations & PR to lead the development and execution of external communications that promote the strategy, vision and priorities of the Myer Group. This role plays a pivotal part in shaping Myer’s media presence, delivering proactive and reactive communications across key initiatives and managing relationships with media and external stakeholders to enhance the company’s reputation and brand impact.
About the role:
- To strategically develop, manage and implement media relations and external programs and other requirements for the Myer Group in-line with the direction of the Group’s strategy and business objectives.
- Work closely with various departments across the Group to identify and execute activities in relation to Group wide announcements and other initiatives to drive external coverage.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets.
- Continually develop story angles, media events/activations and other opportunities to grow the Myer Group brand and support key moments throughout the year including key trade activities, special events eg, Myer’s Christmas Windows.
- Work in collaboration with marketing to advise and support programs using social media and talent to drive brand awareness and appeal towards the Myer Group.
- Oversee and approve the distribution of a broad range of external communications materials including media releases, fact sheets, briefing documents (internal and external), messaging matrix, press kits and Q&A’s.
- Act as 2IC to the GM of Corporate Affairs as required and support wider communications/crisis comms/government and stakeholder relations activity.
About you:
- 8+ years’ experience in a similar role, experience across traditional media relations and PR is highly desirable.
- Proven track record of delivering successful media and external facing campaigns and crisis management.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent stakeholder relations skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong network of media contacts.
- Ability to think strategically and execute tactically.
- Experience in crisis communications and internal communications and stakeholder relations, an advantage.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as within the wider Corporate Affairs and PR team.
- Experience in managing budgets.
- Manage team member life cycle as per Myer processes.
