Myer is looking for an Inventory Specialist. Reporting to the Systems and Inventory Manager, this role supports the Myer National Distribution Centre (NDC) operations team in delivering outstanding results by managing and optimising inventory records onsite. By using operational technologies and systems including the Warehouse Management systems (WMS) and Robotics Management Systems (RMS), the successful candidate will ensure on time and accurate online fulfilment and store replenishment by managing the inventory control.
This position leads an Inventory Team and is responsible for day‑to‑day inventory control, including strategic slotting and preparation for promotional periods. As the first point of contact for the Operations team, the Inventory Specialist troubleshoots on floor inventory issues, rectifies discrepancies, and escalates where necessary. The role sets direction for the Inventory Team, allocating workload, coaching and developing team members, monitoring KPIs, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability and continuous improvement.
About the role:
- Inventory Management. Day to day management of stock control though the WMS systems. Eg, Stock reconciliation, slotting, backlog management, master data issues, short pick investigation.
- Ensure all master data is set up correctly and replenishing in correct quantities.
- Inventory Record Accuracy (IRA) Control. Maintain cycle counting program.
Complete counting programs based on annual stocktake requirements.
- Data Analysis and reporting. Prepare and share inventory data to the operations team to highlight any operational errors impacting service levels and IRA levels.
- Provide the NDC Operations team a reporting suite to monitor inventory performance, providing insight on areas of focus.
- Promotional management. Working with central merchandise teams to plan for promotional periods. Setting up the NDC slotting and inventory planning to successfully execute.
- Support the NDC Operations team by providing on the floor inventory guidance and coaching.
- Provide day to day leadership to the Inventory Team. Planning workloads, conducting performance check ins, setting clear expectations, supporting their development, and stepping in to resolve complex issues.
About you:
- Inventory and planning experience in a large, automated DC.
- Able to create spreadsheets from scratch. (Power Query, complex formulas, pivoting/merging data, automation with macros or Power Automate).
- Strong systems reporting capability. Able to extract, reconcile, and present data clearly.
- SQL capability a plus.
- Proven problem solving in an automated environment. You enjoy digging into data to find the “why” and fix it.
- Demonstrated ability to work with new automation technology, help implement structure, and continuously improve processes.
- Proven people leadership in an inventory environment.
- Supply Chain or related tertiary qualifications are highly regarded.
