About Myer Group
Myer Group brings together the iconic brands that define fashion, beauty and lifestyle across Australia and New Zealand. From our Myer Department stores to our fashion brands Just Jeans, Dotti, Portmans, Jacqui E, Jay Jays, Marcs and David Lawrence — each bring its own legacy, united by a shared commitment to delivering exceptional experiences for our customers.
About the Role
The Portmans team has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Product Manager to join our Dresses team.
Reporting to the Head of Product, you will be responsible for driving the end-to-end product strategy, developing commercially successful, trend-led ranges that deliver against sales, margin and customer objectives. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate product leader who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment and is ready to make a significant impact on one of Australia's most iconic brands.
Responsibilities
- Strategic assortment building: Build the seasonal Dresses range plan — option counts, price architecture, silhouette and fabric mix. Ensuring the assortment is right for the Portmans customer and delivers on the brand strategy.
- Trend led: Research trends, product innovation and competitors to stay at the forefront of the market; translate global runway, street and social trends into commercial product for the Portmans customer.
- Financial KPIs: Achieve budgeted sales and margin through continuous review of performance, market opportunities and supplier negotiations. Drive weekly trade, reacting to in-season performance through reorders, chase, markdown and exit strategies.
- Sourcing & supplier management: Manage the Dresses supplier base, negotiating cost, quantities, lead times and terms, and building partnerships that deliver quality, speed to market and margin.
- Quality focus: Confidently execute the product development process with high-quality outcomes — fit sessions, fabric and trim approvals, pre-production and shipment sign-off. Demonstrate an understanding of product construction, fabric/materials and their performance in styling, durability and care.
- Critical path: Own the critical path from concept to delivery, ensuring product arrives on time to budget and for key events and advertising requirements.
- Team leadership: Develop a high-performing team who can manage the end-to-end process of delivering a product range whilst managing the critical path. Set clear priorities and build capability so the team can run the category with confidence.
- Collaboration: Work closely with QA, Marketing, Planning, Design and Visual Merchandising, fostering teamwork and cross-functional collaboration to meet strategic business outcomes.
- Customer & market focus: Play a key role in understanding the market and customer preferences — using sales data, customer feedback, store visits and competitor reviews — ensuring the right Dress assortment is delivered to the market at the right time.
