MYER is looking for a Head of Risk to be responsible for establishing, embedding and enhancing Myer's Risk Management framework to support effective risk governance and management across the business. Our Head of Risk provides independent risk oversight, strategic insight and practical guidance to the Executive Management Team (EMT), senior leaders, and the Board on the identification, assessment and management of risk. You will also hold responsibility for managing the Myer's internal audit and compliance programs, ensuring appropriate alignment with the overall risk profile of the business.
About the role:
- Enterprise Risk Management
- Lead the design, continuous improvement and implementation of Myers Risk Management and compliance frameworks, in line with ASX Corporate Governance Principles and industry best practice, and ensuring risks are managed within approved thresholds
- Facilitate annual and periodic risk assessments, including strategic, operational, financial, cyber, compliance and emerging risks.
- Oversee development and maintenance of risk registers and associated controls.
- Risk Governance & Reporting
- Provide high-quality, forward-looking risk reporting to the Board, Audit Finance & Risk Committee, Executive Management Team (EMT).
- Ensure the business is meaningfully and proactively managing key risks and compliance issues.
- Ensure risk insights inform strategic planning, investment decisions, and major transformation initiatives.
- Support the Company Secretary and Group CFO in preparing risk-related Board materials and governance disclosures, including annual reporting requirements.
- Ensure Myer’s risk appetite framework is defined, embedded and well understood, including risk and tolerance limits.
- Business Partnering & Advisory
- Act as the primary risk advisor to the business, supporting leaders across stores, supply chain, merchandise, finance, customer and digital and HR.
- Provide guidance on risk mitigation strategies, incident response, control design, and compliance obligations.
- Operational Risk and Resilience
- Oversee critical operational risks, including business continuity planning and crisis management frameworks.
- Support enterprise-wide scenario planning and readiness activities.
- Regulatory & Compliance
- Monitor regulatory changes relevant to an ASX business.
- Oversee and support compliance function (including product compliance, licensing, regulator contacts, data, privacy) as well as partner with relevant specialists across Legal, Safety, Cyber, Sustainability and Operations.
- Periodic reporting to Audit Finance & Risk Committee and Board of compliance activities.
- Internal Audit
- Oversee the Myer Internal Audit Program.
- Preparation and implementation of Myer annual Internal Audit Plan.
- Periodic reporting to Audit Finance & Risk Committee and Board of internal audit activities.
- Culture, Capability & Education
- Drive risk awareness and a positive risk culture across the organisation.
- Provide training (where required) for leaders and employees on risk management, compliance, governance responsibilities and practical risk tools.
- Champion a culture of transparency, continuous improvement and early risk escalation.
About you:
- 10+ years’ experience in risk management, internal audit, governance, or related fields.
- Deep knowledge of enterprise risk management frameworks, governance principles and ASX reporting expectations.
- Strong understanding of retail industry risk drivers (e.g., supply chain disruption, safety, loss prevention, cyber, financial controls).
- Experience in incident management, business continuity planning, and control design.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and distil complex regulatory and risk requirements for senior audiences.
- Prior leadership experience in a listed company environment.
- Proven track record engaging directly with Boards and senior executives.
- Strategic mindset with strong commercial acumen and the ability to balance risk with business opportunity.
