About the Role 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Planning Manager to join the Jay Jays team full time at our Support Office on St Kilda Rd. Reporting to the Group General Manager Jay Jays and being a part of the Brand’s Leadership team, this key role requires a proven leader who can demonstrate both the technical and operational planning skills and enjoys working in a fast paced and creative environment. Leading and managing a team of planners and an inventory management team, you will be responsible for setting the strategic direction of the brand, ensuring budgets reflect this strategy and to manage monthly forecasts and weekly trading actions.

Your key responsibilities will include but not be limited to: 

  • Coordinating and leading the key brand planning processes and activities (e.g. post-season analysis, seasonal strategy reviews, sale activity, assortment planning) 
  • Setting and managing the brand planning timetable 
  • Managing the Inventory Management team to develop and regularly evaluate store gradings and ranging 
  • Build the seasonal brand and department budgets, involving key stakeholders as required 
  • Manage the building of weekly budgets and projections by brand and channel 
  • Actioning in season re-budgets/replans and rebuilds as required 
  • Management of the accuracy and integrity of the financial projection inclusive of reporting on weekly performance against targets 
  • Controlling the brand stock levels 
  • Determining the implications on the financial plan of identified issues (eg $AUD change) and communicate and influence appropriate brand response 
  • Work with Brand leader to develop the seasonal strategy around margin and markdown management to maximise GP growth 
  • Managing the markdown process within agreed targets 
  • Regularly present to the Executive team and the Board 

Skills & Experience 

  • 5+ years in a senior planning leadership role (or equivalent retail planning experience).
  • 3–5 years’ experience leading teams, including leaders.
  • Proven track record of delivering strong KPI results.
  • Strong retail, financial and business acumen.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and advanced Excel capability.
  • Experience with retail planning systems (advantageous).
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to influence at an executive level and lead senior stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of store demographics and customer behaviour (shared responsibility with Buying).
